Happy Texas Independence Day, y'all!
Since the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo starts about this time of year, when I was kid, our school (and many others) celebrated Go Texan Day on March 2. On that day we were supposed to wear western wear to school if we had it, and most of us did. In those days, as soon as the Christmas departments were cleared away, department stores like Foley's in downtown Houston set up western wear departments for rodeo season.
